I had a very interesting day today. I did chair massage at a church as part of a fair they were doing. And the beauty is that this was arranged two days ago.

My neighbor was taking part in a cosmetics fair at a church on the north side of town. She is a rep for a cosmetic company. The nice part is that all profit will be going to the church. At any rate, she asked me (effectively at the last minute) to be a part of this. I’d be doing five minute massage sessions for anyone that wanted. Okay, no problem.

I arrived a couple minutes late, and began setting up the chair. Once that was done, I set up the literature, put out my license, and asked “Who’s the first victim?”

I started working and just kept on working. What made it interesting is that the air conditioning was not working. By the time I left, my clock/thermometer said 86.7 degrees. Ouch. I worked a little over an hour, and changed my shirt. (Note to self: Take only dark colored shirts to chair massage sessions.)

Now, chair massage is not something I do very often, and because of this, I’m not as comfortable with it as I’d like to be. So, the chance to get some practice is good. What was neat was that as I started working on each person, I did a quick scan to see where their major problem might be. So as I worked out a ‘basic routine’ to follow, I was able to change it so that I got in some extra moves on each person’s problem spot.

It was very neat. I was able to work on each problem, and still give a nice relaxing (even though short) session. As I told one lady her time was up, I had to tell her a second time because she was asleep.

I worked on 28 people in a straight four hour session. That was a lot more than I expected, but it was fun. I enjoyed it all. The church activities director (who also happened to be the last person I worked on) told me that they really appreciated me being there. Another lady told me that everyone was talking about the wonderful massage they got. Neat.

Well, if any business comes from this, great. If not, then I had a great day, and did some good work. What more can I ask for?
