As of yesterday, I am legal. No, I didn't just reach my 21st birthday. Do I ever wish that was it. I got my actual massage license in the mail.

It was less than two weeks ago that I passed the national boards for massage therapy. In that time, a lot has happened. I got a business address, registered a fictional name (my company), and waited.

I had been told by someone at the board of massage that it takes them about 10 days to get the test results, at which time, they are logged, and a letter is sent out. The letter acts as a temporary license until the actual one comes in about six to eight weeks. I received my letter this past Wednesday. On Thursday, I went to city hall, and got my occupational license. I am now allowed to do business in the city of Jacksonville and Duval county (they are the same thing here). Yesterday, I went to the bank and opened a business checking account. The only thing I am waiting on now is confirmation of the insurance. This is mandatory, and smart. For $210, I am covered if anything should happen during the massage. I am covered against sexual malpractice (not something that is likely to happen). And I am covered up to $2,500 in case something happens to my property. I own two massage tables, and a massage chair (two of which I got at reduced rates when the school closed).

Yesterday, I looked in the mailbox, and my actual license was there. Well, so much for the six to eight week wait.

So, in a couple of days, I will be completely legal, and ready to roll. Neat. Take care all.
