Well, I’ve passed on the moose story. Now, this is the deer story.

We left for vacation today, but not until I had worked from 8am until 4pm on three hours of sleep. After packing the car, we left at 6pm for our seven-hour ride (and that is only half way). Obviously, I was very tired and thankfully Shirley did most of the driving. One of my friends had told me that I would be having a lot of angels keeping their collective eye on us to help us get through our trip.

It was a long ride, and we were very tired, almost to the point that we were falling asleep. We were about 10 minutes from our stopping point. Shirley was behind the wheel as it was far past my ability to control a car by then. She was having lots of trouble, and I wasn’t aware of how bad she was. All of a sudden, we saw a deer by the side of the rode, maybe even on the shoulder. Well, that surprised us and scared us. While living in Maryland, we’ve seen enough people that have hit a deer while driving along country roads. The result ain’t pretty. Thankfully, this one decided it didn’t need to cross the road.

After we were in the room, Shirley told me that if that deer hadn’t appeared and surprised her, we would not have made it to the motel. At that moment I said a silent thank you to whatever angels had put that deer there to help us get to our destination.

Later I called my friend to thank her, and to asked her to pass on my thanks.

So, I wonder what the next animal story will be about.
